Leroy Hutson: So In Love With You
I know I’m supposed to be on hiatus, but I’m… me. There’s somethin’ I’m itchin’ to share, so, here it is.
When I hear most contemporary music, I cringe, and –almost always– some narrow-minded, good-intentioned soul puts on some “good” music. You know: the Erykah Badu-ish or Marvin Gay-ish kind. While I have nothing against Queen Badu or King Marv, I do take issue with being fed the same songs over and over again. “So In Love with You” gives me a break from the same ol’ same ol’.
I got up with the intention of… well, really, I’m not sure. I just know that this is the only Leroy Hutson song with which I’m familiar, and, without this song, I wouldn’t know who or what a Leroy Hutson is. I think I became familiar with the song, during the 1990’s, and I guess I’m grateful that it wasn’t (and is not, now) played to death. Were the reverse the case, I’d probably hate the song to hell. It’s not, so I don’t.
“So In Love with You” is pretty and clear, and when I listen to it, I remember the sweetest and most endearing parts of myself. Of course, there are some other personal thoughts I’ve attached to this song, but, for me, the idea of a romantic prospect reading this and thinking that playing this song will win my favor is an abhorrent one, so I’ll keep the other thoughts a secret.
Anywho, Pape (and all the rest of y’all), I hope you like this one.
